Action Items

Two things to knock out as soon as you can. They help us prepare for your arrival and keep everyone safe on the trails and in the water.

Before You Fly

✈️ Getting Here

Fly into Ljubljana (LJU). Airport transfers are included both ways — send us your flight details on the guest form.

Most guests connect via Vienna, Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich or Venice. Venice Marco Polo is also workable by road if the fares are better.

🕑 Pickup & Dropoff

We collect you at 3:00 PM local time at Ljubljana Airport on arrival day, and drop back at the airport at 11:30 AM on departure day.

Do not book a departing flight before 1:00 PM. The transfer arrives at 11:30 AM and anything earlier does not leave enough time.

🚩 Entering Slovenia

Slovenia is in the EU and the Schengen area. US, UK, Canadian and Australian passport holders can visit visa-free for short stays, with a passport valid at least 3 months beyond departure.

Check ETIAS before you book flights. The EU’s travel authorisation scheme has been repeatedly delayed, and whether it applies by June 2027 is genuinely unclear. Check the official EU site closer to travel — do not rely on us or on a blog.

🏊 Water Confidence

Paddleboarding and swimming both want you comfortable in water. You do not need to be a strong swimmer, but you should be able to swim.

Tell us on the guest form if you are not confident — the guides adapt, and there is always a dry seat on the boat and a warm rock on the shore.

📅 Your Dates

Arrive Friday, June 11 and depart Thursday, June 17, 2027. Six nights.

Coming from North America? Consider flying in a day early. The first day is much better when you’ve slept.

🌡️ Weather & What to Pack

Mid-June in the Julian Alps: warm days, cooler evenings at altitude, and afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer.

The Soča is glacier-fed and cold all year. The Adriatic in June is a different story entirely — genuinely swimmable. Full packing guide linked below.

💰 Money & Tipping

Slovenia uses the euro. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, but bring some cash for small villages and mountain huts.

Tips for your hosts and guides are not included and always appreciated.

Extend Your AdZENture — Pre & Post-Stay Ideas

You’re already flying to central Europe — and two of the best short breaks on the continent are on your doorstep.

🏟️ Ljubljana & Lake Bled

The prettiest small capital in Europe, and the lake on every postcard.

Getting There
You land here
Stay
1–3 nights
  • The easiest add-on — it is your arrival and departure airport
  • Ljubljana is walkable, riverside, and full of good food for very little money
  • Lake Bled is 40 minutes away: the island church, the castle, the cream cake
  • Lake Bohinj next door is bigger, quieter and arguably better
  • Arriving a day early is the smartest thing you can do before a week of hiking
  • Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle are an easy day trip

🏪 Venice & the Italian Coast

Two hours from the valley, and a completely different world.

Airport
VCE
From the valley
~2 hr drive
Stay
2–3 nights
  • Genuinely close — the Soča Valley is near the Italian border
  • Fly home from Venice instead of Ljubljana if the fares suit
  • Trieste is closer still, and far less visited than it deserves
  • The Italian side of these same mountains, if you want more Alps
  • Best after the retreat — go from mountain water to Adriatic
  • Tell us early if you want to fly out of Venice; we’ll plan the transfer

Good to Know

A few things about how we run an AdZENture. None of it is meant to be heavy — it just makes for a better week when everyone knows where they stand. Tap any card to open it.

Most of the week is the Soča Valley, inside Triglav National Park — guided hikes, paddleboarding, waterfalls and swimming holes, and the Forest Feast.

Then we move to the coast. Slovenia has only 46 kilometres of coastline and it is Venetian to its bones: salt-white streets, olive groves, and a sea that is genuinely warm in June.

Both stays are included in your price. Your room booking covers the valley; the seaside nights are arranged for you and follow the same shared-or-private choice you made.

The drive between them is comfortable, not an ordeal. Slovenia is small in the best way.

This AdZENture is carefully designed and planned specifically for your group. Our hosts are experts in the destination and have personally curated this retreat to include the very best experiences we could find and create. We ask that you be respectful to our local partners and follow their instructions, especially during our adventures.

Please be mindful of the other guests in our small groups. Be respectful of every person, their opinions and their choices on the retreat.

Unruly, disrespectful, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated on this AdZENture, our hosts reserve the right to stop your participation in this retreat and no refund will be provided if this occurs. Additional costs may be incurred for transportation and/or alternative accommodation and AdZENtures will not be responsible for any additional expenses.

By attending this retreat you agree to this.

Please note that limited alcohol is provided on this AdZENture. If you would like to purchase additional alcohol for the accommodations, feel free to do so. If you have any concerns regarding this aspect of your retreat, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your hosts and we will respond with the utmost discretion.

If you choose to consume alcohol on this trip, please do responsibly and note that others might not want to partake. Please be respectful of the others in the group and their personal choices.

One thing specific to this retreat: we paddleboard and swim. Please don’t drink the night before to the point where it affects you in the water — your guides will call it, and they are right to.

Please note that this is a no smoking retreat. If you wish to smoke, you will not be permitted to do so on our retreat premises.

Throughout this AdZENture, we’re excited to immerse you in the vibrant flavors of our local cuisine, thoughtfully curated based on seasonal and traditional foods.

Please note that we strive to accommodate various dietary needs and restrictions by offering a variety of options for each meal. If you have specific dietary requirements, we’ll do our best to make adjustments within the framework of our offerings. Our goal is to introduce you to the rich tapestry of local flavors, and we believe that includes a diverse range of culinary experiences.

If guests require custom meals beyond our standard offerings or last minute changes during the retreat, there may be an additional fee, similar to an upcharge at a restaurant. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing you with a delicious and culturally enriching experience.

We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Some people may be covered through their standard health care, but travel insurance can be helpful for other areas of the trip such as Trip Protection. Travel insurance helps protect against unforeseen emergencies which can occur at any time. It also helps protect you against other circumstances like travel delay, lost or stolen baggage and personal items, missed connections and so much more.

One of the recommended travel insurance providers is IMGlobal, because it is designed for adventurous travelers with cover for overseas medical, evacuation, baggage and a range of adventure sports and activities. It’s what we use ourselves — we don’t receive a commission, we just think it’s good.

On this retreat especially: check that your policy covers hiking and watersports. Trip protection matters most — this is a two-location week and a delayed flight costs you more of it.

Questions

As soon as you can, and no later than 60 days before we travel. It carries your dietary needs, emergency contact, flight details and swimming confidence — the guides plan around it.
Nothing before 1:00 PM. The group transfer leaves the valley and reaches Ljubljana Airport at 11:30 AM, which is enough time for a 1:00 PM departure or later.

Worth checking before you book the flight rather than after.
Slovenia is in the EU and the Schengen area. US, UK, Canadian and Australian passport holders can visit visa-free for short stays. Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date.

ETIAS — the EU’s travel authorisation scheme — has been repeatedly delayed and it is genuinely unclear whether it will apply by June 2027. Check the official EU site closer to travel. Please don’t rely on us, or on a blog post, for this.
No, but you should be comfortable in water. Paddleboarding is done on flat water with a leash and a buoyancy aid, and every swim is optional.

Tell us on the guest form if you are not confident. The guides adapt, and nobody is made to feel awkward about sitting one out.
Cold. It is glacier-fed and stays cold through summer — the first time you get in you will make a noise.

The Adriatic is the opposite — warm enough in June that people swim every day of the coastal stretch.
Kozjak is a shared room with its own ensuite. Macesen and Šunik are shared rooms in detached buildings with a shared bathroom. Mangart and Mangart 2 are private rooms, each with an ensuite.

So on this retreat a private room does mean a private bathroom — which is not the case on all of our AdZENtures.
Yes. Email experiences@goadzenture.com and we’ll set up a schedule that works for you, as long as the balance clears by April 12, 2027.
Your $750 deposit is non-refundable. This is exactly what travel insurance is for — it covers cancellations for reasons none of us plan on.
Not even slightly. Plenty of guests come solo and leave with friends. With eight of us there’s nowhere to hide and no reason to.
Email experiences@goadzenture.com any time. No question is too small, and somebody else is almost certainly wondering the same thing.
