Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in the retreat price?
+
All accommodations (7 nights including our private castle above Loch Etive and an overnight on a Hebridean Isle), all meals from welcome dinner to farewell brunch, daily yoga sessions, all guided hikes and cultural excursions, local drinks with dinners at the castle, airport transportation from Glasgow International Airport (GLA), professional guides, and your AdZENtures welcome kit.
What's NOT included?
+
International flights to/from Glasgow International Airport (GLA), travel insurance (required for medical coverage, suggested for trip coverage), personal purchases and souvenirs, additional alcohol beyond what's provided at meals, and gratuity for hosts and guides (optional but appreciated).
What airport should I fly into?
+
Glasgow International Airport (GLA) is where we provide transportation. Pickup is May 9, 2026 @ 3pm local time. Drop-off is May 16, 2026 @ 12:00pm (noon) local time. Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is also an option with an easy 1-hour train to Glasgow, but you'll need to arrange your own transfer or book a private shuttle with us (estimated $150 USD one way). If flying out of Edinburgh, schedule flights after 2pm local time to account for the train journey.
What's the weather like in May?
+
May brings longer days (more time for adventure!), wildflowers painting the glens in purple and gold, and that perfect mix of moody skies and surprising sunshine that makes Scotland feel magical. Expect 45-60°F (7-15°C) with changeable weather—Scotland's famous for experiencing "four seasons in one day!" Pack layers including a good raincoat, comfortable waterproof walking boots, and a warm layer for evenings. Plus, we avoid the summer crowds and pesky bugs!
What fitness level do I need?
+
This retreat is rated "Moderate." Our walks range from gentle valley strolls to heart-pumping mountain hikes, typically 2-4 hours of walking on varied terrain. We have two guides leading at different paces—one for those seeking a workout, another for those interested in photography, observing nature, and taking it easy. A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended to fully enjoy the activities. ALL HIKES AND EXPERIENCES ARE 100% OPTIONAL with alternative activities offered!
What kind of accommodation can we expect?
+
For most of our stay, we'll be in our very own castle set above Loch Etive, near the coastal town of Oban! We'll also have an overnight on a special Hebridean Isle off the coast. Each place has been chosen for its character, comfort, and authentic Highland hospitality. You'll have comfortable beds, hot showers, and the kind of experience you can't find in big hotels. We offer two accommodation options: Private room with private bathroom OR Shared room and shared bathroom with 1 other person (solo travelers paired with same sex).
Can I opt out of activities?
+
EVERY single experience is optional! AdZENtures chose the experiences on this retreat based on firsthand experience and the unique value each holds for guests. You can 'choose your own AdZENture' by opting out of any experience. Alternative activities are always offered so you don't feel like you're missing out!
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
+
Yes! Your Scottish Highlands AdZENture includes all meals—those prepared at our highlands chalet and meals out at restaurants. We can accommodate any dietary restrictions as long as it's noted on the Guest Form. Please note: if you select a specific diet, special meals will be prepared just for you and that is what you will be served. Changes may not be possible on short notice. Example: "I don't eat seafood" means our chef will design a special non-seafood dish just for you. You won't be able to 'try' the seafood dish as meals are made to order for each guest.
Is travel insurance required?
+
Medical coverage is REQUIRED. Comprehensive travel insurance is suggested to protect your investment. As our AdZENtures are quite active, insurance not only covers medical emergencies but also trip cancellation in case conflicts prevent you from joining. If purchased within 7 days of your original deposit, travel insurance often issues refunds for covered reasons. We recommend World Nomads or Allianz. Please send us your policy details before the retreat.
Why don't you share an itinerary in advance?
+
This is intentional! Our guests are often planning every aspect of their lives and others'. During our AdZENtures, we give you the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy the present moment. Every night at dinner, we'll share the following day's activities, what to pack, what to wear, and when we'll depart. This allows you to be prepared while immersing yourself in the present. Most AdZENturers who struggle with this at first end up loving the element of surprise!
Is solo travel welcomed?
+
Absolutely! Some of our most magical moments happen when solo travelers connect. Many of our guests come alone and leave with new friends. We structure our days to balance group time with personal space, and our small group size means no one ever feels left out.
