A Wild Atlantic Ireland AdZENture

Explore the secret side of Ireland

Everybody goes to Ireland. Almost nobody goes here.

We spend this AdZENture on the west and northwest edge of it — Inishbofin, Sligo and Donegal — where the coast stops being a postcard and starts being weather.

There are sea cliffs up here roughly three times the height of the Cliffs of Moher, and you will likely have them to yourself. There are caves, and mountains, and an island you reach by boat.

We forage seaweed off the Atlantic and then cook with it. We spend time with a wool crafter on the island, learning how people keep a traditional skill alive and still make a living from it. We eat well, walk a lot, and go where the coaches cannot.

None of this is arranged from a catalogue. We have partnered with local friends who live here, which is the only reason a group of ours gets in at all.

This is the Ireland that does not make the itinerary — and the one people come home talking about.

⚠️ Before you book — your first night in Dublin

The Dublin night before Day 1 is not included in the price. We depart Dublin at 8:00 AM on Day 1, so you will need to be in the city the night before. We will send you a group rate at our hotel once you have booked — or you are very welcome to book your own, wherever you would rather stay.

Three Signature Experiences

Everything on this retreat was chosen on purpose. These three are the heart of it.

🌊 Cliffs Three Times the Height of Moher

Donegal’s sea cliffs rise roughly three times higher than the Cliffs of Moher — and you will not be sharing them with a coach park. Add caves, mountains and an island reached by ferry, and this is the coastline most visitors to Ireland never learn about.

🌿 Seaweed Foraging on the Atlantic

Out on the Donegal shore with someone who knows it, learning the edible seaweeds that have been part of the food here for centuries. It is a working tradition on this coast, not a demonstration put on for visitors.

🧶 A Wool Crafter, and a Farm

Time on Inishbofin with a local brewer and wool crafter — the history behind the craft and how islanders keep these skills alive while still making a living out here. Later in the week, a farm visit in a remote corner of Donegal with a friend who will tell you what this land is actually like.

🚲 Plus bikes, boats and a great deal of walking

Ferry to Inishbofin, bikes in the Ox Mountains, the Neolithic passage tombs at Carrowkeel, Killary Fjord, a table-top mountain over Sligo Bay, and a secluded golden beach to finish. See the Inclusions tab for everything.

Three Regions, Three Kinds of Home

This retreat moves. Two nights on Inishbofin at a seaside hotel, two in the Sligo countryside, and three in south Donegal — a mix of B&Bs, a private homestay and a hotel, chosen by our local partners for where they are rather than what chain they belong to.

That means your room changes through the week, and it means you wake up somewhere different as the landscape changes. It is the only honest way to see this much coastline.

Island Nights

Two nights on Inishbofin, a short ferry from the mainland and a world away from it.

A Private Homestay

Part of the week is spent as a guest rather than a customer — which is how the doors here open.

Twelve of Us

Small enough to fit around one table, and small enough to get onto the island and into the places that matter.

Room Types

Shared Room

$4,450

per person

Two beds, shared with one roommate — matched by us, or bring your own. Because we move between properties, your room changes as we go; we handle the arrangements at every stop.

Private Room

$5,150

per person

A room to yourself at every stop, for a $700 supplement across the seven nights. Only two available — once they’re gone, they’re gone.

🌴 Local friends, not a tour company

A qualified Irish guide is with us from Day 1 to Day 8, driving and walking every step. Beyond that, the wool crafter, the farmer and the foragers are people our partners know personally. That is the whole reason this itinerary exists — you cannot book most of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — and this is the one thing to sort out early. We leave Dublin at 8:00 AM on Day 1, which means you need to already be in the city the night before.

Once you’ve booked we’ll send you a group rate at the hotel we use, so you can stay with everyone else and travel down together in the morning. You’re also completely free to book your own — wherever you’d rather be.

Either way, plan to land in Dublin the day before Day 1. We’ll confirm the exact date shortly.
Fly into Dublin (DUB). Your guide collects the group from the Dublin hotel at 8:00 AM on Day 1.

On the last day we return to Dublin by 12:00 PM. Do not book a departing flight before 2:00 PM — it’s a long drive back across the country and we’d rather you weren’t watching the clock.

Got a flight that conflicts? Email us and we’ll help you sort out a solution!
Moderately active, most days. Guided hikes on coastal and mountain trails, a cycling day in the Ox Mountains, walks on the island, and a climb toward the Sliabh Liag cliffs.

You should be comfortable walking several miles over uneven ground and happy on a bike for a few hours. Everything is paced to the group, and the guide adapts.

There is also a great deal of sitting in pubs listening to music, which requires no training whatsoever.
They change through the week — that’s the nature of a trip that crosses three regions. Expect a seaside hotel on Inishbofin, then B&Bs and a private homestay through Sligo and Donegal.

Shared means two beds and one roommate; we’ll match you, or you can name a preferred roommate when you book. Private means a room to yourself at every stop for a $700 supplement, and there are only two.

You don’t pick a specific room for this retreat — because it isn’t the same room twice. We arrange it all at each stop.
Always, and this one suits it especially well. Twelve of us in a van for a week, on an island, in pubs — nobody stays a stranger past about day two.

We’ll match you with a roommate in a shared room, or you can take one of the two private rooms if you’d rather have your own door to close.
Late May and early June is one of the best windows in Ireland — long daylight, everything green, and the summer crowds not yet arrived.

That said, this is the Atlantic coast. Expect sun, wind and rain in the same day, sometimes the same hour. A proper waterproof is not optional and the full packing guide comes to you once you’ve booked.
Throughout this AdZENture, we’re excited to immerse you in the vibrant flavors of our local cuisine, thoughtfully curated based on seasonal and traditional foods.

Please note that we strive to accommodate various dietary needs and restrictions by offering a variety of options for each meal. If you have specific dietary requirements, we’ll do our best to make adjustments within the framework of our offerings. Our goal is to introduce you to the rich tapestry of local flavors, and we believe that includes a diverse range of culinary experiences.

If guests require custom meals beyond our standard offerings or last minute changes during the retreat, there may be an additional fee, similar to an upcharge at a restaurant. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing you with a delicious and culturally enriching experience.

Worth knowing: we’re in small villages and on an island, where kitchens are tiny and choice is limited. Tell us early and we’ll talk it through with them well before you travel.
This is a no smoking retreat — if you wish to smoke, you will not be permitted to do so on our retreat premises.

Limited alcohol is provided. You’re welcome to purchase more if you’d like — and there will be pubs. If you have any concerns about this aspect of your retreat, please reach out to your hosts and we will respond with the utmost discretion.

The full Code of Conduct, alcohol and smoking policies are on your confirmation page once you’ve booked.
$750 non-refundable deposit at booking, $1,850 on December 29, 2026, and your remaining balance on March 30, 2027 — $1,850 for a shared room, $2,550 for a private one.

750 + 1,850 + 1,850 = $4,450. Payment plans are available; you’ll get options in your confirmation email.
We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance. Some people are already covered through their standard health care, but travel insurance is useful for other areas of the trip too — Trip Protection in particular.

It helps protect against unforeseen emergencies, which can happen at any time, and against the rest of it as well: travel delay, lost or stolen baggage and personal items, missed connections, and plenty more.

One provider we recommend is IMGlobal, because it’s designed for adventurous travellers — overseas medical, evacuation, baggage, and a range of adventure sports and activities. It’s what we use ourselves. We don’t receive a commission — we just think it’s good.
