A SLO & Savory AdZENture

Restore your body & mind, awaken your palate.

Slovenia has 24 recognised culinary regions. It is a country you could drive across in three hours.

That ratio tells you most of what you need to know about how seriously people take food here — and almost nobody outside Slovenia has any idea.

This is the gentle one. Where our Sporty week goes down a canyon, this week goes to the long lunch. Forest walks and mountain springs rather than via ferrata. Slow afternoons. Optional morning yoga in a greenhouse studio, and no pressure to be anywhere.

We eat at a Forest Feast under the stars. We drink wine from vineyards nobody has exported and schnapps that somebody’s uncle made. We spend time in villages well past where the tour buses turn around.

There are still waterfalls, still swimming holes, still the emerald river. You just get to them at a pace that lets you notice them.

Six nights at an ecological ranch on five acres inside Triglav National Park. Eight of us at most.

If you want to come home rested rather than triumphant, this is your week.

Three Signature Experiences

Everything on this retreat was chosen on purpose. These three are the heart of it.

🍽️ The Forest Feast

Dinner outdoors under the trees, courses arriving slowly, local wine and schnapps somebody’s uncle made. This is the night that makes sense of the 24 culinary regions — and the one guests describe first when they get home.

🍷 Tables Past the Tour Buses

Village kitchens, farm tables and cellars in a valley where Italian, Austrian and Adriatic cooking all met and stayed. Wine from vineyards that never export. Cheese from the people who made it that morning.

🌲 Forest Walks & Mountain Springs

Gentle guided walks to waterfalls, swimming holes and springs you can drink straight from. Paced for conversation rather than heart rate, and every one of them optional.

🧘 Plus optional morning yoga in a greenhouse studio

Practice in a glass studio with the mountains right there, or sleep in. Both are correct. See the Inclusions tab for everything.

An Ecological Ranch Inside a National Park

Our home for the week is an exclusive ecological ranch on five acres inside Triglav National Park — rustic Alpine, quiet, and ours alone for the six nights we’re there. Eight guests, no strangers in the next room, no lobby, no front desk.

There’s a greenhouse yoga studio for morning practice, a pool, a fire pit, and long afternoons with nothing scheduled in them.

🥯 Local guides and local kitchens

The walks, the tables and the cellars are all run by people who live in the Soča Valley. They know whose cheese is worth the drive and which spring is the cold one, and they are the reason this week goes places you would never find on your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fly into Ljubljana (LJU). Airport transfers are included both ways — send us your flight details on the guest form.

Ljubljana is well connected across Europe, and many guests fly via Vienna, Munich, Frankfurt or Venice. Venice Marco Polo is also a realistic option by road if the fares work better.
This is our gentle week. Expect forest walks on easy trails, short strolls to waterfalls and swimming holes, and a lot of sitting at tables eating very well.

If you can walk a couple of miles on uneven ground at a conversational pace, you are fine here. Every walk is optional and there is always the pool, the fire pit and a book instead.

Want the adrenaline version? That is SLO & Sporty in June — canyoning, alpine hikes and paddleboarding.
Slovenian, seasonal, and more varied than you are expecting. The valley sits where Italian, Austrian and Adriatic cooking all met — so one lunch is closer to Friuli and the next is closer to Vienna.

Expect fresh cheese, cured meats, river trout, foraged things, soups, strudels, and bread that ruins other bread. Wine from vineyards that never export, and schnapps at the end whether you asked for it or not.
Five rooms across the property. Kozjak is a shared room with an ensuite. Macesen and Šunik are shared rooms in detached buildings with a shared bathroom. Mangart and Mangart 2 are private rooms with ensuite bathrooms.

Eight of us in total.
Always. Plenty of guests come solo and leave with friends. With eight of us there’s nowhere to hide and no reason to. We’ll match you with a roommate in a shared room, or you can name a preferred roommate when you book.
Warm and green, with long daylight and comfortable afternoons in the valley. It cools down properly in the evenings at altitude, and afternoon thunderstorms are an Alpine summer habit — they usually roll through and clear.

The river is snowmelt-fed and cold year-round, which is exactly why it is that colour. We’ll send a full packing guide once you’re booked.
Throughout this AdZENture, we’re excited to immerse you in the vibrant flavors of our local cuisine, thoughtfully curated based on seasonal and traditional foods.

Please note that we strive to accommodate various dietary needs and restrictions by offering a variety of options for each meal. If you have specific dietary requirements, we’ll do our best to make adjustments within the framework of our offerings. Our goal is to introduce you to the rich tapestry of local flavors, and we believe that includes a diverse range of culinary experiences.

If guests require custom meals beyond our standard offerings or last minute changes during the retreat, there may be an additional fee, similar to an upcharge at a restaurant. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing you with a delicious and culturally enriching experience.

Worth saying plainly: food is the point of this particular week. Tell us your requirements on the guest form early and we will talk them through with the kitchens before you travel.
This is a no smoking retreat — if you wish to smoke, you will not be permitted to do so on our retreat premises.

Limited alcohol is provided, including local beer, wine and schnapps with meals. You’re welcome to purchase more if you’d like. If you have any concerns about this aspect of your retreat, please reach out to your hosts and we will respond with the utmost discretion.

The full Code of Conduct, alcohol and smoking policies are on your confirmation page once you’ve booked.
$750 non-refundable deposit at booking, $1,100 on February 10, 2027, and your remaining balance on May 11, 2027 — $1,100 for a shared room, $1,700 for a private one. Payment plans are available; you’ll get options in your confirmation email.
We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance. Some people are already covered through their standard health care, but travel insurance is useful for other areas of the trip too — Trip Protection in particular.

It helps protect against unforeseen emergencies, which can happen at any time, and against the rest of it as well: travel delay, lost or stolen baggage and personal items, missed connections, and plenty more.

One provider we recommend is IMGlobal, because it’s designed for adventurous travellers — overseas medical, evacuation, baggage, and a range of adventure sports and activities. It’s what we use ourselves. We don’t receive a commission — we just think it’s good.
