Big Island AdZENture

Hawaiʻi is the youngest island in the chain, and it is still being made.

That is not a figure of speech. There is a volcano on this island actively adding land to it, and you can go and stand near enough to feel the heat coming off it. Five nights on the Big Island, from a house above the Puna coastline with the ocean laid out in front of it, and days that run from the black sand beaches to the summit of a mountain nearly fourteen thousand feet up.

We’ll spend a day inside Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park — steam vents, lava fields, the living edge of the thing. We’ll go up Mauna Kea to watch the sun drop below an ocean of cloud and then watch the stars come out in numbers that do not look real. We’ll spend a day in the green heart of the island where the waterfalls are and the air smells like rain. There will be coffee tours, jeep days, beach days, and yoga every morning.

And Mav is bringing us home. He’s a Hawaii native, he has spent his life in the water and in the air around these islands, and he trained as a chef. So he is going to show us his islands and then cook for us. There is something pretty good about that.

Three Signature Experiences

Everything on this retreat was chosen on purpose. These three are the heart of it.

🌋 Volcano National Park Day

A full day inside Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park — steam vents, lava fields, and the living edge of an island that is still being made. There is no analogue for standing here. Most people see this park from a car window in ninety minutes. We give it a day.

⭐ Mauna Kea Adventure

Up above the cloud layer on one of the clearest night skies on Earth. You watch the sun go down over an ocean of cloud, and then you watch the stars come out in numbers that do not seem real. Bring the warmest thing you own — we are serious about this and we will remind you.

🏞 Special Jungle Excursion Day

A full day out in the green heart of the island — the Big Island’s lush windward side, where the waterfalls are and the air smells like rain. One of those days that ends with everyone quiet in the car on the way back.

🏠 Plus coffee tours, jeep days, beaches and daily yoga

Kona coffee tours and tastings, jeep touring across the island, iconic beach days, sunrise and sunset excursions, and yoga every morning at the house. See the Inclusions tab for the full list.

Your Home on the Puna Coast

Our home for the week sits above the Puna coastline, minutes from a black sand beach — cedar buildings under coconut palms, lawn running out toward the water, and the ocean filling the whole horizon behind it. It’s ours alone for the five nights we’re there. Eight guests, no strangers in the next room, no lobby, no front desk.

There’s space to gather and space to disappear. Morning yoga happens here. So does the last drink of the night and the conversation that runs longer than anyone planned.

Exclusively Ours

The whole property, just our group of eight. No sharing it with other guests.

Above the Ocean

Open water off the lanai and a black sand beach minutes away.

Ensuite Shared Rooms

Every shared room has its own bathroom — which is rarer than it should be.

Room Types

Shared Room

$3,390

per person

Two beds, ensuite bathroom. Matched with a roommate, or bring your own. Three shared rooms in the house.

Private Room

Frequently Asked Questions

You can fly into either side of the island — Kona (KOA) on the west, or Hilo (ITO) on the east. Transportation is included and runs on set times.

Arrival day, Saturday February 27: Kona Village at 2:00 PM, Kona Airport at 2:30 PM, Hilo Airport at 4:00 PM.

Departure day, Thursday March 4: Hilo Airport at 10:00 AM, Kona Airport at 11:30 AM.

Book your flights around those times and you’re looked after from the moment you land until you head home.
Every shared room has its own ensuite bathroom. The two private rooms share a bathroom between them — so a private room means your own bedroom and no roommate, not an ensuite. Worth knowing before you choose.
Always. Plenty of guests come solo and leave with friends. With eight of us, there’s nowhere to hide and no reason to. We’ll match you with a roommate in a shared room, or you can name a preferred roommate when you book.
Yes. One of our shared rooms is a single-bed room designed for two people travelling together, and it goes at the shared rate — $3,390 each, no private supplement. Select 2 guests in the booking form and it will show up as an option.
The Big Island is three climates in one trip. The coast, where we sleep and swim, is warm and humid with passing rain. The volcano and jungle side is noticeably cooler and often actively raining. And Mauna Kea, at elevation and after dark, is genuinely cold — winter-coat cold. That last one catches people out every single time. We’ll send a full packing guide once you’re booked.
Throughout this AdZENture, we’re excited to immerse you in the vibrant flavors of our local cuisine, thoughtfully curated based on seasonal and traditional foods.

Please note that we strive to accommodate various dietary needs and restrictions by offering a variety of options for each meal. If you have specific dietary requirements, we’ll do our best to make adjustments within the framework of our offerings. Our goal is to introduce you to the rich tapestry of local flavors, and we believe that includes a diverse range of culinary experiences.

If guests require custom meals beyond our standard offerings or last minute changes during the retreat, there may be an additional fee, similar to an upcharge at a restaurant. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing you with a delicious and culturally enriching experience.
Comfortable walking a few miles over uneven ground — lava rock is not flat and it is not forgiving. There’s a jungle day, a day in the national park, and altitude on Mauna Kea. Every activity is optional. If a day calls for the lanai and a book instead, take it.
This is a no smoking retreat — if you wish to smoke, you will not be permitted to do so on our retreat premises.

Limited alcohol is provided. You’re welcome to purchase more for the accommodations if you’d like. If you have any concerns about this aspect of your retreat, please reach out to your hosts and we will respond with the utmost discretion.

The full Code of Conduct, alcohol and smoking policies are on your confirmation page once you’ve booked.
$750 non-refundable deposit at booking, $1,320 on October 28, 2026, and your remaining balance on December 28, 2026 — $1,320 for a shared room, $1,820 for a private one. Payment plans are available; you’ll get options in your confirmation email.
We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance. Some people are already covered through their standard health care, but travel insurance is useful for other areas of the trip too — Trip Protection in particular.

It helps protect against unforeseen emergencies, which can happen at any time, and against the rest of it as well: travel delay, lost or stolen baggage and personal items, missed connections, and plenty more.

One provider we recommend is IMGlobal, because it’s designed for adventurous travellers — overseas medical, evacuation, baggage, and a range of adventure sports and activities. It’s what we use ourselves. We don’t receive a commission — we just think it’s good.
