Frequently Asked Questions

May brings us longer days (more time for adventure!), wildflowers painting the glens in purple and gold, and that perfect mix of moody skies and surprising sunshine that makes Scotland feel magical. Plus, we avoid the summer crowds and the pesky bugs!
Scotland's weather is famously changeable (that's part of its charm!). Pack layers including a good raincoat, comfortable waterproof walking boots, and a warm layer for evenings. We'll send you our detailed packing guide, but the key is being ready for four seasons in one day! After you book your Scottish Highlands AdZENture, guests will receive a welcome email containing a detailed AdZENture Travel Guide specific for this AdZENture.
Our walks range from gentle valley strolls to heart-pumping mountain hikes. We have two guides that lead two different paces. One is geared more towards those looking for a workout and the other is those who are more interested in photography, observing the surrounding nature and taking it easy. Most days involve 2-4 hours of walking on varied terrain. All hikes and experiences are 100% optional with other activities offered so you don't feel like you're missing out on anything!
Pickup will be from Glasgow Airport, but there is an easy train from Edinburgh to Glasgow Airport if you're finding flights that are better in and out of Edinburgh. For ARRIVAL: We will have one shuttle on May 9th for pickup at Glasgow Airport. Shuttle departs from the Glasgow International Airport @ 3:00pm local time. For DEPARTURE: We will have one shuttle on May 16th for drop off. Shuttle will drop off guests at the Glasgow International Airport @11:00am local time. If your travel schedule does not align with these times, we will be able to book you a private shuttle to/from the airport for an additional cost (estimated $150USD one way).
Your Scottish Highlands AdZENture includes all meals, those prepared at our highlands chalet as well as meals out at restaurants. We ARE able to accommodate any dietary restrictions on this AdZENture as long as it's noted on the Guest Form. Please note: if you choose to select a specific diet, special meals will be prepared just for you and that is what you will be served. Changes may not be possible on short notice.
Some of our most magical moments happen when solo travelers connect! Many of our guests come alone and leave with new friends. We structure our days to balance group time with personal space, and our small group size means no one ever feels left out.
As a company policy, we do not share an itinerary with our guests. This is done with intention and for a reason. Our guests are often planning every aspect of their lives and others'…during our AdZENtures, we give guests the opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy the present moment. Every night at dinner, we will disclose the following day's activities, what to pack, what to wear and when we will depart. This allows guests to be prepared but also immerse themselves in the present. If this sounds unbearable, this might not be the best trip for you.
For the majority of our stay, we will be whisking you away to our very own castle set above Loch Etive, near the coastal town of Oban. We will also have an overnight on a special Hebridean Isle off the coast. We have two accommodation options for this AdZENture: Private room with private bathroom, and Shared room and shared bathroom with 1 other person. If you are traveling alone, we will pair you with another solo guest of the same sex.
This Scottish Highlands AdZENture is full of unique and cultural experiences and amazing nature excursions. We will spend most mornings enjoying a slow start with delicious, local foods for breakfast and an all-levels, optional yoga practice. Our days will include a variety of adventures in the Lochs, Moors and Glens as well as time on the coast. All activities are available to anyone who participates in moderate fitness activities on a fairly regular basis.
EVERY single experience is optional. AdZENtures chose the experiences on this retreat based on firsthand experience and the unique value each holds for guests. Guests are able to 'choose your own AdZENture' by opting out of any experience.
This AdZENture is available to anyone with a moderate level of fitness. We will provide details about hiking duration and elevations as we get closer to our retreat start date. We have several guides on each hike who will lead at various paces. One guide will hike at a quicker pace while another guide will take their time and lead guests who want to take a bit more time to enjoy scenery, take photos, and hike at a slower pace.
Yes, we will provide a few local pints, tasty wine and nips of local libations that can be enjoyed with dinners at the highland chalet. If guests choose to buy their own or more alcohol throughout their AdZENture, they are welcome to do so. Guests are required to be respectful to all other guests, hosts and staff at all times and are expected asked to be mindful of their personal alcohol consumption.
As all of our AdZENtures are quite active, we do require insurance for all guests. Insurance is required not only in the case of a medical emergency but it's also a good idea to include travel insurance in the case of emergency or conflicts preventing you from joining our AdZENture after you book. Medical coverage is required. Travel insurance is not required, it's suggested.
