Their work focuses on propagating endangered coral species—particularly Elkhorn and Staghorn corals—and replanting them across degraded reef systems.
The Rebel Reef represents a living laboratory where divers witness active coral restoration in action. This site showcases some of the healthiest Elkhorn coral formations remaining in the Western Caribbean, a species that has declined by over 90% regionwide since the 1980s. What makes these formations extraordinary isn't just their rarity—it's their exceptional health, complex structure, and the biodiversity they support.
