A Rebel Reef AdZENture

If conditions allow, this trip includes a translocation of elkhorn coral — part of a larger experiment working to understand how these rare corals respond to environmental conditions, and to help establish a new elkhorn reef as habitat for the 25% of all marine life that depends on coral reefs.

Elkhorn corals live near the sea surface, where their fronds can be broken by waves or by illegal anchor drops. You’ll be instructed how to handle these elkhorn “fragments of opportunity”, giving you a rare chance to hold coral and connect directly with these amazing animals while contributing to a scientific study.

It is weather and conditions dependent. It is real science, not a scheduled attraction, and it only goes ahead when it is safe and right for the corals. We will always tell you honestly on the day.

This AdZENture is carefully designed and planned specifically for your group. Our hosts are experts in the destination and have personally curated this retreat to include the very best experiences we could find and create. We ask that you be respectful to our local partners and follow their instructions, especially during our adventures.

Please be mindful of the other guests in our small groups. Be respectful of every person, their opinions and their choices on the retreat.

Unruly, disrespectful, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated on this AdZENture, our hosts reserve the right to stop your participation in this retreat and no refund will be provided if this occurs. Additional costs may be incurred for transportation and/or alternative accommodation and AdZENtures will not be responsible for any additional expenses.

One thing specific to this retreat: we are diving. Please don’t drink the night before a dive to the point where it affects you in the water — your dive team will call it, and they are right to.

Please note that this is a no smoking retreat. If you wish to smoke, you will not be permitted to do so on our retreat premises.

Please note that we strive to accommodate various dietary needs and restrictions by offering a variety of options for each meal. If you have specific dietary requirements, we’ll do our best to make adjustments within the framework of our offerings. Our goal is to introduce you to the rich tapestry of local flavors, and we believe that includes a diverse range of culinary experiences.

If guests require custom meals beyond our standard offerings or last minute changes during the retreat, there may be an additional fee, similar to an upcharge at a restaurant. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing you with a delicious and culturally enriching experience.

We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Some people may be covered through their standard health care, but travel insurance can be helpful for other areas of the trip such as Trip Protection. Travel insurance helps protect against unforeseen emergencies which can occur at any time. It also helps protect you against other circumstances like travel delay, lost or stolen baggage and personal items, missed connections and so much more.

On this retreat especially: check that your policy covers recreational scuba diving. Not all of them do as standard.

Yes, both of them, before you fly.

Both only take a few minutes, but they have to be done before you leave for the airport — not in the departure lounge and not on arrival. Travellers without them can be delayed at check-in or refused boarding.

These are Honduran government requirements, not ours. We cannot complete them on your behalf and there is nothing we can do about it on the day, so please get them out of the way early.

As soon as you can, and no later than 60 days before we travel. It carries your dietary needs, emergency contact, flight details and dive experience — the dive team plans around it.

No. Non-divers can do a discovery dive with no prior qualification, and the snorkelling is genuinely excellent here because the elkhorn grows near the surface. If you’d like to certify, Tela Marine can do it on site for $500 plus accommodation and food for the extra days — just tell us early.

Nothing before 1:00 PM. The group transfer leaves the retreat and reaches San Pedro Sula airport at 11:30 AM, which is enough time for a 1:00 PM departure or later.

If you book something earlier, you will need a private transfer at your own cost — $250. Worth checking before you book the flight rather than after.

18 hours. We schedule the last day of diving with this in mind, but if you’re booking an early flight home or adding Roatán afterwards, plan around it. This one is not flexible — it is a decompression safety rule, not a preference.

Your $750 deposit is non-refundable. This is exactly what travel insurance is for — it covers cancellations for reasons none of us plan on.

Not even slightly. Plenty of guests come solo and leave with friends. With twelve of us and a shared dive boat, there’s nowhere to hide and no reason to.
